November 18 - 22

Dear Families,

Thank you for taking the time to meet with me to discuss your child's progress this year.  I enjoyed meeting with many families this week, and look forward to next week as well!

This week we learned:
~To add two-digit to two-digit numbers on the open number line.
~Nonfiction readers ask, "what is this book teaching me?"

This week we experienced:
~Creating salt dough models of the Champlain Valley.
~Counting collections and sorting by 10s.
~Publishing real-life writing for a class book.

November 11 - 15

Dear Families,

It was certainly an exciting week with all the snow!  Thank you for making sure your child has clothes for playing in the snow: a coat, snow pants, boots, hat and mittens. Please send in shoes for the classroom, because wet boots make our floors slippery and wet. 

This week we learned:
~To write letters and cards
~To identify doubles and doubles plus or minus one facts
~Nonfiction readers ask, "what is this book teaching me?"

This week we experienced:
~Celebrating GIS (Geographic Information Systems) day and creating a map of our playground.
~Painting a model of the Earth and adding the seven continents.
~Adding multiples of 10 using an open number line.

November 4 - 8


The first full week of November was full of activity!  Today we attended a school wide PBIS assembly and wore our tie dye t-shirts.  Our third class celebration was making origami bookmarks!  In this month's Farm to School we taste tested two of Vermont's most famous things - apples and maple syrup!

This week we experienced:
~Real-life writing: lists, how-to, and signs.
~Exploring a new calendar pattern in Number Corner.
~Paper mache balloons.

~Eating applesauce in Farm to School
~The appreciation station

October 29 - November 1

Dear Families,

A special thank you to our wonderful room mothers - Tatum Bailey, Kristen Calcagni, Amanda Dooley,, Sara Land,  Vincenza Lunde and Sarah Pineda, for providing yummy snacks and designing a fun Halloween afternoon on Thursday. It was a wonderful celebration!
